Wanting children

The preconception consultation (in case of pregnancy planning) is a medical appointment with a doctor (perinatal doctor and/or psychiatrist), a midwife or a gynaecologist. It allows for an assessment of the parents’ health to best prepare for the pregnancy as well as to create a space to share questions and concerns and to receive personalised advice. During this consultation, various topics can be discussed, such as diet, physical activity, vaccinations, working conditions, different types of consumption (tobacco, alcohol, etc.), taking regular medication, and things that can be changed at home to create a healthy environment. It is covered at 70% by French health insurance.

The Forez Hospital Centre offers consultations where these points can be addressed.

Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is “the set of clinical and biological practices enabling in vitro conception, the preservation of gametes, germinal tissues and embryos, embryo transfer and artificial insemination” (Assurance Maladie).

The ART is covered at 100% by the French Health Insurance, up to a limit of 6 inseminations and 4 in vitro fertilization attempts per pregnancy. If this service is used, the employee has authorisation of absence for the medical procedures required by the protocol and the partner is also entitled to authorisation of absence but only for 3 of these medical examinations.

These absences cannot result in a reduction of salary, but a supporting document may be requested.

The Forez Hospital Centre can support patients in their ART process.
