Type 2 maternity wards

Type 2 maternity wards have an obstetrics unit and a neonatology unit. It provides care for moderate-risk pregnancies and newborns requiring special monitoring.

Type 3 maternity wards

Type 3 maternity wards have a neonatal intensive care unit in addition to an obstetrics unit and a neonatology unit. It thus takes care of high-risk pregnancies and newborns with serious pathologies.

ELENA Network

The ELENA network is a structure for coordination, evaluation, medical expertise and support for professionals in the field of perinatal health, before and after birth. Its objectives are to support perinatal health professionals, to help organize and coordinate local stakeholders, to coordinate exchanges between different health stakeholders (associations, local authorities, health establishments, etc.), to transmit information to professionals and to enhance the training of health professionals.

The network also develops numerous communication and information tools for patients and families, via its website and brochures and posters on various topics.

The network has created various resource directories related to perinatal care, such as a directory of independent midwives; a directory of sonographers; and a directory of professionals practicing Early Prenatal Care (EPC).
